A boutique landscape atelier shaped by personal attention, European roots, and a love of gardens that feel alive.

The studio

Landelier is a Sag Harbor–based landscape design studio creating refined, naturalistic residential gardens across the Hamptons and East End.

Intentionally small and highly personal, the studio offers close attention, thoughtful collaboration, and design continuity from the earliest ideas through installation and beyond.

Meet Daria Szalinska

Daria Szalińska is the founder and principal designer of Landelier Landscape Atelier. Her work brings together European design training, deep horticultural knowledge, and more than fifteen years of experience shaping high-end residential landscapes in the Hamptons and beyond.

Originally from Poland, Daria holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Landscape Architecture from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. Her career began at one of Europe’s leading nurseries in the Netherlands, where she developed a strong foundation in plant selection, composition, and the qualities that allow a garden to mature beautifully over time.

After moving to the United States in 2014, Daria spent more than a decade in Southampton—first gaining hands-on experience with one of the region’s leading landscape companies, followed by a long tenure at an established landscape architecture firm—before founding Landelier Landscape Atelier to create refined residential landscapes across the Hamptons and East End.

Daria’s education also includes three years of university study in psychology, deepening her interest in how landscapes influence emotion, memory, family life, and well-being. This perspective informs an approach that considers each garden not as a separate composition, but as a natural extension of the home and the lives unfolding within it.

In 2023, Daria received the Bunny Mellon Garden Design Prize from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, recognizing her artistry, environmental sensitivity, and thoughtful approach to landscape design.

For Daria, a successful garden is not only seen. It is felt.

What Makes Landelier Different

Clients work closely with Daria throughout the process.

The studio takes on a limited number of projects so each one can receive proper care.

No two gardens are treated the same way.

Planting is central to the design, not an afterthought.

Each garden responds to architecture, ecology, light, soil, views, and the character of the property.

A European eye for proportion, atmosphere, and seasonality

Landelier’s work is influenced by European garden traditions, where beauty often comes from restraint, rhythm, and the quiet layering of plants and materials.

This perspective brings a distinct sensibility to Hamptons landscapes — refined but relaxed, natural but intentional, elegant without feeling overdone.

Landelier designs gardens for real life: morning coffee, children running barefoot, dogs in the grass, dinners outside, birdsong, privacy, shade, flowers, weather, memory, and time.

A garden should not feel like an accessory to a house. It should feel like part of the life inside it.
