Hedges Lane Landscape
Sagaponack, NY
Set along Hedges Lane in Sagaponack, New York, this estate landscape pairs substantial new construction with a planting strategy rooted firmly in the character of the Hamptons. For Landelier Landscape Atelier, the starting point was preservation: spectacular mature existing trees were retained wherever possible, immediately grounding the new residence and giving the property a sense of permanence that new landscapes often take years to achieve.
The planting palette is intentionally restrained and unmistakably Sagaponack—masses of white hydrangeas, mature globed boxwoods, layered formal hedges of varying heights, and a white crape myrtle allée creating rhythm and structure throughout the property. Clean sweeps of ornamental grasses soften the architecture and bring movement to the more formal framework.
Rather than competing with the scale of the house, the landscape uses mature planting, repetition, and strong green structure to settle the architecture into its setting. Pool, lawn, gardens, and outdoor entertaining areas are organized within this simple palette, allowing the landscape to feel generous but composed.
The result is a refined Sagaponack estate landscape that feels established rather than newly installed—classic Hamptons planting interpreted with a cleaner, more contemporary hand, and a strong emphasis on preserving what already made the site special.
